Abstract

Don’t plan on cellular service or electrical infrastructure being  available.  A solid understanding of all the challenges the overall disaster response effort faces (even outside of medical) is tremendously important.  Randy will share why and how that understanding can make your medical efforts run more effectively and efficiently. Bringing effective communications capabilities to the response effort will not only help your medical effort as a force multiplier (telemedicine), it can also supply those managing the overall disaster response effort with critically needed “situational awareness.”   The communications capability provides multiple layers of two-way benefit.  Needs Assessments, Supply Chain Logistics and other topics are things we take for granted in our day to day operations, but in disasters that can - and usually will be - FAR DIFFERENT.  Good communications with those managing the disaster can provide profound benefits.
